I expose Billy Graham’s false ‘Peace With God’ gospel message. The gospel message in red, and my comments in blue.
Step 1
God loves you and has a plan for you!
The bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, [Jesus Christ|, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” – a complete life of purpose (John 10:10)
Step 2
Here’s the problem: man is sinful and separated from God
We have all done, thought or said bad things, which the Bible calls “sin.” The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
The result of sin is death, spiritual separation from God (Romans 6:23)
The good news
Step 3
God sent His Son to die for your sins!
Jesus died in our place so we could have a relationship with God and be with Him forever.
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)
But it didn’t end with His death on the cross. He rose again and still lives!
“Christ died for our sin…He was buried…He was raised on the third day, according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me” (John 14:6).
Step 4
Would you like to receive God’s forgiveness?
We can’t earn salvation; we are saved by God’s grace when we have faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. All you have to do is believe you are a sinner, that Christ died for your sins, and ask His forgiveness. Then turn from your sins – that’s called repentance. Jesus Christ knows you and loves you. What matters to Him is the attitude of your heart, your honesty. We suggest praying the prayer below to accept Christ as your saviour.
Pray now: “Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
Step 4 of the Peace With God gospel adds works to the simple gospel of grace in which we receive the gift of God when we trust in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. We trust He died for us and are born again into the Family of God, given a gift of God (the Holy Spirit) that cannot sin. Billy Graham is right that we cannot earn salvation, and we are saved by God’s grace when we have faith in Jesus Christ. However, he frontloads the gospel with works when he says that ‘turn from your sins’ is repentance. The phrase “turn from your sins” is not found in the Holy Bible. Not once. I’ve pasted the bible results from ‘turn from your sins’, but it is not the exact phrase that Billy Graham says.
Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you – Jeremiah 5:25
For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right – Amos 5:12
Repentance in the New Testament is the verb 3340 metanoeo and the noun 3341 metanoia, both of which mean a change of mind. What do we change our mind about? We need to change our mind about God and trust His way of salvation through Christ, and not our ‘good works’ because none of us can attain perfection. Only Christ did, which is why it is His righteousness that saves sinners.
3340 metanoeo
metanoeó: to change one’s mind or purpose
Original Word: μετανοέω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: metanoeó
Phonetic Spelling: (met-an-o-eh’-o)
Definition: to change one’s mind or purpose
Usage: I repent, change my mind, change the inner man (particularly with reference to acceptance of the will of God), repent.
3341 metanoia
metanoia: change of mind, repentance
Original Word: μετάνοια, ας, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: metanoia
Phonetic Spelling: (met-an’-oy-ah)
Definition: change of mind, repentance
Usage: repentance, a change of mind, change in the inner man.
Again, the prayer starts off well, but then front loads discipleship onto the simple gospel we are asked to believe, making the gospel difficult, rather than the simple gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) that saves. God looks at the heart. He knows who is sincere and who is not. He knows who is trusting Christ alone, and who is trusting Christ partially and then works to prove salvation because the human mind just cannot believe that a gift like Eternal Life would be given freely by our own Creator, through simple trust in Him. The words are very subtle in these sinner’s prayers, which are on websites everywhere. If you choose to serve Christ after trusting Christ as your saviour, this is pleasing to God and you will earn rewards in heaven. However, the bible never says ‘we must’ after salvation, but Paul tells the brethren ( believers) that they ‘should’ serve the living God, as it is profitable (Titus 3:8)
This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good andprofitable unto men –Titus 3:8
Peace With God’s false gospel will not lead to peace, but a continuous looking to self to prove if you have been saved, but Jesus says that those who believe on Him have eternal life.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son – 1 John 5:11
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life – John 6:47
God’s grace saves us, and this is His gift to us.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God – Ephesians 2:8
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance – Romans 11:29
God will not change His mind. This particular repentance word translates as 278 ametameletos, which is when no change of mind can take place.
278. ametamelétos
Original Word: ἀμεταμέλητος, ον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: ametamelétos
Phonetic Spelling: (am-et-am-el’-ay-tos)
Definition: not repented of
Usage: not to be repented of, about which no change of mind can take place, not affected by change of mind.
Billy Graham has ecumenical beliefs and denies Christ and believes that people of other religions will be in heaven, even if they do not know Christ. Jesus Christ clearly said the way is narrow (Matthew 7:13-14) and few there be that find it. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Him (John 14:6).
