So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it – Isaiah 55:11
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made – John 1:1-3
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth – John 1:14
The Word of God is Alive
The word of God is supernatural and alive. People who have no respect for the Bible have no understanding of its power. Its words are power. Scripture tells us that the word of God is quick, powerful and sharper than any two edged sword.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart – Hebrews 4:12
Many people are hardened to God’s word and choose the broad way to destruction by trusting in their goodness, because scripture prophesied this in Matthew 7.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it – Matthew 7:13-14
Only Jesus Christ is the way to everlasting life, because He is the sinless lamb of God that took away the sin of the world (John 1:29). To trust in Him gives us forgiveness of sins through His blood (Hebrews 10:12).
in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; – Ephesians 1:7
in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: – Colossians 1:14
Modern bible versions like the New International Version remove through his blood in Colossians 1:14. Modern versions claim to make bible reading easier, but why then remove the blood of Jesus and reduce the power of God’s supernatural word? The blood removes sin from the believer in Christ. Every word is important.
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins – Colossians 1:14 (NIV)
The Word of God is Pure
God has magnified His word above His name.
Every word of God is pure, because it was God breathed and its translators were lead by the Holy Spirit.
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name – Psalm 138:2
The words of the Lord are pure words.
6The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever – Psalm 12:6-7
Notice Psalm 12:7. He will keep these words pure and preserve them from this generation forever. This is of most importance, because the Word of God is supernatural and alive.
You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked – Psalm 12:7 (NIV)
Psalm 12:7 in the NIV mentions nothing of keeping God’s word pure, but then again let’s look at verse 6 of Psalm 12:
And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times – Psalm 12:6 (NIV)
NO, the words of God are not flawless, but pure words, as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times, as it says in the KJB of Psalm 12:6. The NIV removes changes the word as to like and then again like gold refined seven times. NO. The KJV tells us in Psalm 12:6 the words of the word are pure words, as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. This tells us how precious God’s word is, and it is dangerous to change God’s word.
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him – Proverbs 30:5
Let’s look at some other modern versions of Psalm 12:6-7.
The LORD’s promises are pure, like silver that’s been refined in an oven, purified seven times over! You, LORD, will keep us, protecting us from this generation forever – Psalm 12:6-7 (CEB)
The words of ADONAI are pure words, silver in a melting-pot set in the earth, refined and purified seven times over. You, ADONAI, protect us; guard us forever from this generation – Psalm 12:6-7 (CJB)
God’s words are pure words, Pure silver words refined seven times In the fires of his word-kiln, Pure on earth as well as in heaven. God, keep us safe from their lies, From the wicked who stalk us with lies – Psalm 12:6-7 (MSG)
The wicked are everywhere, and everyone praises what is evil. Keep us always safe, O Lord, and preserve us from such people – Psalm 12:6-7 (GNT)
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever – Psalm 12:7 (KJV)
The purity of God’s word are preserved in the King James Bible. It is not difficult to read. It is easier to understand because of its ye, you, your, which are plural and address all, and thy, thee, thou, and thine, which are singular and address a single person.
Be aware that man’s philosophy in trying to understand God’s word in an attempt to make it easier reading is leading people astray. The Holy Bible can only be understood by the gift of the Holy Spirit. Without it, it is understandable. Do you think God is pleased that His word is butchered and copyrighted to make money? The KJV is free of copyright.

The Word of God Will Not Return Void
So coming back onto the title of this post, when we hear, speak or read the pure words of God from His word that he promised to preserve to every generation, scripture says that it will not return void.
Here is an example in my case. My mum had always encouraged me to read the Holy Bible as a child, and I tried but it was like reading a foreign language. I didn’t understand a word of what it said. However, those words were absorbed into my brain, nonetheless. I learned later that it was the Authorised King James Bible.
We used to sing hymns at school so I knew of a Holy God and enjoyed singing hymns to the Lord. I remember these hymns and sing them.
Fast forward twenty years later, and I was trusting in everything else but the God of the Bible. I was into meditation, tibetan yoga, crystals, chanting, raising my kundalini, brainwave entrainment, hypnosis, even satanism. I wrote erotica, committed adultery with married men, fornicated with strangers. I was vain and didn’t care about anyone else but myself. Today I know I am saved by God’s grace, but had I died at that time I would be in eternally separated from God in hell, because the wages of sin is death.
I was driving in my Fiat Seicento one day years ago approaching the traffic lights at Tesco in Rochdale, and suddenly an image of Christ on the cross appeared as clear as day in my mind, with the question “what if you are wrong about him?”. I was following all of this godless stuff, really just a child of Satan, and yet I suddenly saw Christ on the cross and felt convicted. He was clear as day in my mind on that cross and I felt ashamed. Is this the day I was saved? I don’t know, but the scripture in the Bible about God’s word not returning void is real.
I believe in God’s time and in God’s will, people are saved after hearing, reading, or speaking God’s pure word. That is what we must remain hopeful for when we care for souls, just to lift them up to Almighty God and continue to pray, expose them to God’s word, and leave the rest up to God, because He is our Saviour (1 Timothy 1:1, 1 Timothy 2:3, Titus 1:3, Titus 2:10, Titus 3:4, Jude 1:25)
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts – Isaiah 55:9
If the word of God is gifted to you today, harden not your hearts to unbelief. This is what te author of Hebrews 4 is saying. We enter into the rest of Jesus Christ upon belief. Believing the gospel (the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ – His finished work) gives the remission of sin through His blood. Unbelief does not profit a person. For by grace are ye saved through faith, and not of yourselves. It is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). We who believe on Christ enter into rest.
Hebrews 4 makes it clear that those who did not enter into rest was down to unbelief in the gospel. Then Hebrews 4:7 says today if ye (everyone) will heard his voice, harden not your hearts. Hebrews 4:9-10 tells us of the rest what we have because of Christ’s work, and we have also ceased from work, because works cannot save anyone. Christ saves us. Many false teachers put burdens on people to perform works, but sanctification is a daily process that we should walk in where we will grow in Grace. We do this not to be saved or stay saved, but out of gratitude of God’s amazing grace toward us. There is no fear in serving God when we are growing in His grace. It brings a wonderful joy and thankfulness to the believer.
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7 again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief – Hebrews 4:1-11
