Jesus is the greek word 2424 Iesous, which is defined Jehovah is salvation.
Christ is the greek word 5547 Christos, which is defined as the anointed one.
Therefore, Jesus Christ is God our saviour.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; – 1 Timothy 2:3
to Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour – Titus 1:4
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, – Titus 3:4
to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen – Jude 1:25
Most people will agree that Jesus is a good teacher, a moral man, a prophet, somebody to revere, and that if we follow him we will attain everlasting life. To follow means to become a disciple, but becoming a disciple of Jesus comes after trusting in Christ’s finished work on the cross (as payment for sin) for eternal life. The scriptures make is clear that salvation is a gift of God, not of human works.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord – Romans 6:23
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast – Ephesians 2:8-9
The prophecy of Jesus is found in Genesis 3, directly after Adam and Eve had sinned against the LORD God.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel – Genesis 3:14-15
Jesus did not come into this world to condemn the world (all people), but to save the world, through Him. Scripture is clear.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved – John 3:17
Scriptures are often twisted and taken out of context by pastors and teachers who want to make the way of salvation difficult, or seem impossible to others who just can’t do the works necessary to ‘feel’ saved. They scream at their members ‘repent of your sins’ and give a long list of ‘things’ that people must do to have everlasting life, except they are not turning from their own sins in condemning others. It is impossible to go an hour without committing sin. We all sin in word, thought and deed daily. Even hating others is committing murder in the eyes of God. Read the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7 where Jesus goes into depth on the ten commandments. No one can keep the law. It is difficult. God doesn’t expect us to keep the law. The law was given to show us that we can’t keep it 100 percent and that we need a saviour in Christ.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith – Galatians 3:24
There are a lot of teachers out there who appear holy, but most are dangerous wolves in sheep’s clothing who change the meaning of scriptures or use scripture out of context. Jesus warned us that many would come in His name. Paul warned us of false teachers.
Most people when they think of Christians believe we are narrow minded, judgmental people, but as believers it is important that we tell others of what God says in the Holy Bible.
We are living in a world today that is very self-focused. It is dangerous. It is violent. Feelings are heavily relied upon.
It is also very sad for those who do care about souls. We are deeply grieved. What offends God should offend believers, but carnality is a huge problem too. I am guilty of this. Who wants to suffer in the cause of Christ. Who wants to experience persecution or hate?
I so so desperately want fellowship with other believers, and I feel so so alone at times with only God to talk to, but He is my fortress and strength. He day by day gives me the strength to go on. I choose to serve him because He loved me first. When I fail I know that I am secure in His hand saved because salvation is of grace, not of human works.
and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand – John 10:28
There are a lot of very influential rich people who have millions of followers. They inspire others into their personal beliefs, without even knowing that what they teach is contrary to God’s word. Take Ariana Grande for instance. She is a Kabbalist, who believes in mystical knowledge that is contrary to God’s word. God has given us everything we need in the Holy Bible. There is no secret doctrine. Or what about the billionaire chat show host, Oprah Winfrey who believes that all paths lead to God.
These people teach contrary to God’s word so that when somebody comes along teaching contrary to what these huge charismatic celebrities say, we are the hated bigots who teach the truth. Jesus told us that the world hated him, and we would be hated too.
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you – John 15:18
The only way to heaven (eternal life) and the Father is through Jesus Christ. Scripture makes this clear.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me – John 14:6
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved – Acts 4:12
So yes, anyone who denies that Christ is the only way to God the Father is on the broad path to destruction, as Jesus cites in scripture.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it – Matthew 7:13-14
23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: – Luke 13-23-25
Jesus is clearly teaching in these passages that there is only one way to life (eternal life) and it is through the strait gate. Jesus makes clear that He is the door in John 10.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture – John 10:9.
A strait gate is extremely narrow, and Jesus as the only saviour of mankind makes it clear that to deny him as the only way to eternal life is to enter the broad way that leads to destruction. Jesus says that few will find life because eternal life is only available through Him. The broad way is every other religion that teaches that man’s goodness will merit heaven, but there are clear warnings in scripture against this. Remember, we are all born with a sin nature, and the wages of sin is death.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord – Romans 6:23
Satan, the father of all lies, is a master deceiver so that when the light of Christ comes into the world, it is mocked, denied etc.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it – John 8:44
When we stand before God, why should God let us into heaven because be warned that we will be judged against the righteousness of Christ, whom God ordained.
because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead – Acts 17:31
Therefore, if you believe that you already possess the righteousness of Christ, you need to be 100 percent sure that you are without sin. Have you kept the ten commandments every day since you were born without fail? Have you ever lied? Have you ever lusted after someone who was not your husband or wife? Have you ever envied another? Do you covet? Have you ever gossiped or slandered another person? The list of sins goes on and on. None of us are without sin. To deny that we have no sin is prideful, and God does not look upon pride with joy.
The bad news it that we are all guilty before God. We stand condemned already if we have not trusted in Christ. Scripture also makes this clear.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God – John 3:18
Since the wages of sin is death, scripture is clear that a death payment must be made for sin. This is the only reason why Christ came into the world – to save sinners from eternal separation from God in hell.
Jesus who is God in the flesh (John 1:14) was the only fully human fully God man without sin, so He could become sin for us, and He did.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. – 2 Corinthians 5:21
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; – Hebrew 7:26
Jesus paid for all sin on the cross, because God loves everyone (the world). He knew that we could not save ourselves through human merit, and scripture clearly says that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ, not anything of ourselves. Salvation is a gift of God, not of works.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast – Ephesians 2:8-9
Christ was buried and rose from the grave three days later. He was seen by many – the scars were clearly visible to His witnesses and they will be visible when we see Him one day in heaven.
YES, salvation is a free gift of God, but payment for our personal sin is only received when we put our faith in Christ that He has paid our sin debt. Therefore, those who are in church teaching that we need to do this or that prior to trusting on Christ’s finished work, or that we need to perform a host of works to ‘prove’ our salvation afterward, or saying if we don’t do this or that we were never really saved to begin with, are adding to the gospel and are under a curse. Paul makes this clear twice in Galatians.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed – Galatians 1:8-9
Faith in Christ plus nothing equals eternal life. Except satan has done a good job of butchering God’s word and butchering the simple gospel of faith alone in Christ alone. Salvation is what Christ has done for us and discipleship (a learner) is about serving Christ in this life to earn rewards in heaven. Most churches either load discipleship into salvation and corrupt the gospel. We must rightly divide the word of God and there are many exhortations for Christians to grow in grace through the milk of God’s word.
The only reason why Jesus Christ came into the world was to pay for our sin so that we will be eternally secure in heaven, and not hell. Those who deny Christ’s payment for their sin have no excuse when they stand before God.
Many people who proclaim Jesus today are denied by Him, and this has nothing to do with living a right life, but if they had not trusted in Christ personally (who paid for all their sin minus human works) for eternal life, they are still in iniquity and sin. Notice what they say to Christ.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity – Matthew 21-23
The works and the will of the father is found in John 6.
28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent – John 6:28-29
39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day – John 6:39-40
Seeth means to look closely and understand, so to seeth the Son means to look closely and understand what he is saying to them about eternal life. He says over and over through many different sayings, ie, I am the bread of life, I am the light of the world etc, that believing on him gives eternal life. Through the miracles that Jesus performed, many believed on Him.
Trust not in human goodness. Trust in the work of Christ. The blood of Christ cleanses us from sin.
for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins – Matthew 26:28
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him – Romans 5:9
in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; – Ephesians 1:8
in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: – Colossians 1:14
neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own bloodhe entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us – Hebrews 9:12
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission–
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus – Hebrews 10:9
but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin – 1 John 1:7
1 John is written to believers to exhort us to grow in obedience and grace as servants of God. We are eternally secure in Christ because salvation is a gift of God, but serving God will earn us blessings in this life like the answering of prayer etc, and later rewards in heaven. It is important to rightly separate salvation from discipleship.
and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood – Revelation 1:5
We need the imputed righteousness of God. We must be as perfect as God Himself to enter eternal life. Only the payment of Christ Jesus can give us this, and we receive this through simple faith in His finished work on the cross as payment for our sins. Remember, when Christ died all of our sin was future sin, so all sin was accounted for.
even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: – Romans 3:22
Let’s look at John 3:16-18.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God – John 3:16-18
John 3:16 is clear. God loves everyone. Believing in the Son of God, who is Jesus Christ, delivers us from eternal destruction and secures us everlasting life. John 3:17 makes it clear that God sent not His Son into the world to condemn us, to that we would be saved by putting our trust in Him. John 3:18 says clearly that those who do not believe on Christ are condemned already.
Put your trust in Christ today for eternal life and you can know for certain that you will go to heaven when you die, because God cannot lie. We cannot pay for sin with human works, because remember we will be judged against the righteousness of Christ. This is why good works without Christ’s righteousness can send a person to hell. Yes, a lot of people trust in their goodness to merit heaven. Hollywood is a satanic and spreads lies about the salvation only through Christ. It is foolish to reject the Son of God. Instead, put your trust in Christ and He will save you immediately unto eternal life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God – 1 John 5:13
in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began – Titus 1:2
that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: – Hebrews 6:18
God bless
