Eternal Life is a free gift of God. God knew right from the start that man could not save himself, because the curse of Adam passed onto everyone.
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: – 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Jesus Christ is the last Adam, and those who believe in him have eternal life.
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive – 1 Corinthians 15:21-22
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit – 1 Corinthians 15:45
If we could save ourselves by human works, why did Jesus die on the cross? Jesus came for a reason, because we can not save ourselves. Scripture is clear.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast – Ephesians 2:8-9
Death follows sin. To sin means that we miss the mark of God’s holy perfection, and scripture says that all have sinned (Romans 3:36) and the wages of sin is death.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord – Romans 6:23
Christian religions may mention Jesus died for sin, but why do they add works to the simple plan of salvation? Because they do not believe on his all sufficient payment for sin. They deny the report that God gave of his Son.
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son – 1 John 5:10
Scripture is clear that we cannot save ourselves, so what else can we do when death brings separation from God forever?
God sent his Son into the world to become the satisfactory payment for our sin, and everyone else upon this earth.
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world – 1 John 2:2
To add works to the plan of salvation by Jesus’s finished work is to teach an accursed gospel. Paul the apostle warned and twice accursed those who teach another gospel.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed – Galatians 1:8-9
The trouble is that this type of works salvation message is easy for people to understand and accept. It is easy to accept because the flesh nature gets to participate in saving the soul. Scripture says that salvation is a gift that we must receive by faith in Jesus Christ and his death, burial, and resurrection. Only Jesus saves.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me – John 14:6
Only Jesus could make that death payment for us, because he is God in the flesh who has no sin nature. Every human being has a sin nature, and sin is offensive to God. It carries with it a death payment and separation from God forever in the eternal lake of fire.
Jesus Christ spoke of eternal life over and over, upon simple trust in him, so why has this good news become so corrupted? Satan is a liar and deceiver, and just like he deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden telling her to question God, who told Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because he would die, Satan corrupts the word of God mixing enough truth with error.
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die – Genesis 2:17
Adam and Eve may not have died physically, but they died spiritually and their eyes were open knowing good and evil. This simple sin gave them the knowledge of God, thereby Satan was telling them the truth when he said they would be as gods knowing good and evil, but it was never God’s intention for man to know evil, only good.
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons – Genesis 3:1-7
The most important doctrine is that of salvation, so Satan uses his ministers of righteousness and corrupted bibles to subtly alter the simple salvation message of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection that gives everlasting life to include human merit. It is a subtle deceiving message that damns, because it is contrary to scripture. It might seemeth right to man, but scripture gives two warnings of that too. When a message is given twice in scripture, it is important that we take heed of the message.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death – Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death – Proverbs 16:25
Jesus made the world. Look at this wonderful scripture.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made – John 1:1-3
Let’s look at verse 14.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth – John 1:14
Jesus is God who cannot lie, and Jesus gave many scriptures citing eternal life upon simple belief in him. Stop trusting man and its philosophy, because it’s based on works for salvation, just like every other religion of this world, and trust Jesus, whose name in the greek is 2424 Iesous, Jehovah is Salvation.
in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory – Ephesians 1:11-14
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God – John 3:15-18
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him – John 3:36
but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life – John 4:14
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life – John 5:24
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shallneverhunger; and he that believeth on me shallnever thirst – John 6:35
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life – John 6:47
and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand – John 10:28-29
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house – Acts 16:31
as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do – John 17:1-4
that as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord – Romans 5:21
Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; 2 in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; 3 but hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour; 4 to Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour – Titus 1:1-4
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified – Hebrews 10:10-14
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time – 1 Peter 1:5
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. – 1 John 5:10-13
Jesus taught eternal life, and eternal life lasts forever. If someone could lose their salvation, what are they basing their salvation upon? Themselves. Good works in serving Christ in this lifetime will earn us blessings in this life, like answered prayer, and rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ, but works do not keep us saved, nor can lack of works forfeit our salvation, because Jesus has said that no one can pluck us out of his hand, nor the Father’s hand in John 10:28-29? The simple fact of the matter is that false teachers deny the all sufficiency of Christ, but Romans says that the salvation message is the power of God unto salvation, to those that believeth, and we must be faithful in giving a gospel that is void of human merit.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek – Romans 1:16
Will you believe the false ministers of righteousness, which are the majority by-the-way, who teach an accursed works for salvation message, or trust Jesus who is God in the flesh who promised eternal life for whosoever believeth in Him? The preachers who teach eternal security by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone are in the minority, and Jesus warned that we would be hated, like he was, and isn’t it obvious enough that those who add to the finished work of Christ hate Christ by denying that he paid it all.
