Conformingtothetruth.com Works Salvation Gospel

conformingtothetruth.com

Firstly, conformingtothetruth.com gives the gospel saying that God is Holy and just, and how we fail God in failing to fulfil the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:37-38. Then it is onto the character of God, who is just and righteous. Sin must be punished. Man is corrupt because sin indwells, man is under a curse and God’s wrath. Then it speaks of God’s amazing grace through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Under Man’s Response, she states:

Repentance: Recognizing and confessing that what God has said about man/you is true…all have sinned. The Holy Spirit will open the eyes of the unbeliever that he may see his sin and guilt. Recognition of our sin and guilt will lead to sorrow, hatred, and shamefulness over what we have done.

The definition of repentance in the common dictionary has been altered from its original Greek meaning, which is a simple change of mind.

metanoia: change of mind, repentance

Original Word: μετάνοια, ας, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: metanoia
Phonetic Spelling: (met-an’-oy-ah)
Definition: change of mind, repentance
Usage: repentance, a change of mind, change in the inner man.

We need to simply change our mind about trying to save ourselves by trusting in our works and trusting in the gospel of Jesus Christ, who died for every sinner. We do not need to feel guilt, sorrow, hatred, or shamefulness, as this website states. We need to merely accept God’s gift of Jesus Christ, who saves us from the penalty of sin. We do not yet have the holy spirit of promise until we are born again and all we need to hear the gospel of grace and believe. The conformingtothetruth.com website makes it seem like salvation is a difficult process.

Here comes the work aspect of conformingtothetruth.com: Sincerity of confession and saying a prayer is never definite evidence of genuine repentance! True repentance is a turning away from sin. There is a change. A true Christian is a new creature.

Who needs the evidence? Sinful man. Only God knows if a person has trusted Jesus or not. It is impossible to turn away from sin, because we have both the old man and the new man (the Holy Spirit) and it may sound holy and pious, but the salvation of Christ is a gift that God gives to us. Jesus does not ask us to do anything but to believe on Him. You will find no commandment for sinners to turn away from sin, because this is a work. We cannot become born again if we are looking to our own works to save us. Yes, we are a new creature with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, but the old flesh remains. We don’t have new bodies yet, I think this is what a lot of false teachers forget. They start to look at their selves and the ‘sins’ they are not doing, but what about thoughts, desires, and actions? If we are truly honest with ourselves as believers, we all fail every day. We need a saviour. Beware of false teachers like this on conformingtothetruth.com who subtly add works, which makes you look to your self constantly to see if you are ‘doing enough’ and ‘proving salvation’ rather than looking to Jesus Christ, who saved us and set us free from the bondage of the law. There is also no description in the Holy Bible of ‘true’ christians. Do you see how simple corrupt man adds to the Holy Bible descriptions that are not even there, making salvation sound difficult to those who know they are lost and in need of a saviour, but don’t want the bondage of works knowing that it is impossible to do.

Sorry, we didn’t find any results for your search. Please try the following:

  • Double-check spelling, especially people and place names.
  • Make sure there are spaces between words. Bible Gateway treats “nameoftheFather” and “name of the Father” differently.
  • Use fewer words in your search, especially if you’re unsure of the exact phrase. For example, “baptizing name Father” and “baptizing them in the name of the Father” will both return Matthew 28:19; however, the latter leaves a greater chance for spelling and syntax errors.

There are only believers and unbelievers. The word Christian is only mentioned three times in the Holy Bible.

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch – Acts 11:26

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian – Acts 26:28

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf – 1 Peter 4:16.

Did Paul and Silas tell the Phillipean jailer to turn away from sin and believe on Jesus Christ, to be saved? No they did not. Neither must we when giving the simple gospel of Christ.

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. 34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his houseActs 16:25-34

Matthew 7:17-20 speaks about the fruits of false teachings. Good faithful teaching supports God’s Kingdom here on earth by converting sinners into believers, and bad teachings create confusion in genuine seekers who want to be set free from bondage but are constantly told that works are necessary for salvation. These teachers fail to separate salvation and discipleship, which may or may not come after conversion into God’s kingdom.

Conformingtothetruth.com continues, It is important to understand that salvation is a complete work of God! Salvation is by grace alone through faith in Christ alone. There is absolutely nothing you and I can do to earn salvation; it is a gift God bestows upon those whom He chooses.  Faith to believe and grace to repent is something granted by the Father and not something we can obtain by anything of our doing. The only thing that a lost man can do is beg God for His forgiveness and ask Him to grant you faith. Repent and believe.

God gives everyone free will. When we hear the gospel and believe the good news that Jesus died for sinners, and we are free from the penalty of sin by trusting in Christ’s righteousness, and not our own works, are born again, as Jesus taught Nicodemus in John 3. Repentance is a simple change of mind from trusting in our works to trusting in the work of Jesus Christ. We do not need to beg God for forgiveness, because a sound gospel message provides the truth that we have all sinned, and only the perfection of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) can save us. God loves us so much that he provided a solution for sin in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). We simply change our mind about the message of Christ and believe on Him.

The Holy Bible tells us to walk in the spirit in order that we will not fulfil the lusts of the flesh, but easier said than done. The Corinth church were carnal born again believers and Paul rebuked them for their immaturity. Some Christians do not grow as they should, but they are still saved. There are a lot of self-righteous fruit inspectors in our world today who condemn others, but there are many accounts in the bible of people who lived in sin and yet were just and righteous in the eyes of God. Consider David, Lot, and Solomon, who had 700 wives.

Conformingtothetruth.com then adds to ‘count the cost’ saying falsely that salvation is for a lifetime. It is committing your life, everything, your entire life and possessions to Jesus Christ and His Lordship over you.

Jesus is already Lord of all; we don’t need to make Him lord. The false New International Version corrupts Romans 10:9 into a work.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be savedRomans 10:9 (NIV)

Notice the KJV of the same verse

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be savedRomans 10:9 (KJV)

Salvation is a one-time process when we trust on Jesus Christ, who saved us from the penalty of sin. There is absolutely nothing we can do for God, but to believe on His son, Jesus Christ. Jesus mentions believe 85 times in the book of John, so to believe is obviously important for Jesus to emphasise. God does not ask us to perform works for salvation, so this website is teaching a false gospel by adding that salvation is for a lifetime. The author of this website is not separating salvation from discipleship, which can only come after being born again into God’s kingdom. It is impossible to do any work for God without first being born again. If you want to live for God after you are saved, you will receive God’s blessings in this life, and earn rewards in Heaven after this life has ended, or raptured by Jesus during this earthly life, but a lifetime of works is not necessary for salvation.

Paul warns that anyone who teachers another gospel is accursed.

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursedGalatians 1:6-9

The Gospel that Paul preached was given to him by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus ChristGalatians 1:11-12

Satan is the master deceiver in this world, and his ministers are in the church masquerading as the minister of righteousness. They are everywhere turning the truth of God’s Amazing grace into a lie.

3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him – 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works2 Corinthians 11:12-15

When Jesus said it is finished on the cross, He had accomplished His task to restore sinful man to a holy God, through His own sinless sacrifice, which was accepted by God. If we could work for salvation, Jesus would never have had to die, but Jesus knew this was impossible and He loved us and died for us while we were sinners.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghostJohn 19:30

10By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of GodHebrews 10:10-12

1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not2 Peter 2:1-3

Perhaps the author of conformingtothetruth.com is not aware that salvation and discipleship are separate, but the gospel presented on this site is most definitely adding works to the simple gospel of Christ, and this is a warning to the readers of that site.
